Google kommer inom kort att lansera en ny webbtjänst som just nu går under namnet Knol. Tjänsten skall fungera som en uppslagsbok med information om olika ämnen. Tänk Wikipedia, men med mer fokus på författaren.

Genom att författaren av informationen blir mer belyst så skall informationen bli mer pålitlig. Det rör sig alltså inte om en Wiki, men alla användare kan vara med och sätta betyg och ställa frågor till författaren.
Så här säger Google om tjänstens nuvarande status:
Earlier this week, we started inviting a selected group of people to try a new, free tool that we are calling “knol”, which stands for a unit of knowledge. […] The tool is still in development and this is just the first phase of testing. For now, using it is by invitation only.
